Stereotypes

Hello everyone,

We've been reading and discussing about stereotypes in our lessons. Last class we talked about countries like Scotland, the USA, Ireland and England. We also discussed the possible stereotype for Brazil and Brazilians according to foreigners.

As you all know, President Obama was in Brazil last weekend and on his last day, he gave a speech at Teatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro. This speech was addressed to Brazil and all the Brazilians. He mentioned many aspects of the Brazilian culture and characteristics of the Brazilian people.

Here's the activity:

1. Watch Obama's speech on Youtube and answer the questions below:
A. How does Obama describe the Brazilian people?
B. How does he compare Brazil and the USA?
C. Mention 2 other things that you thought were interesting about his speech.
